The Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction is designed to prepare practicing teachers for licensure in such areas as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education, or Gifted and Talented.

Within this master's degree, students focus on areas of learning that include

  • Evaluating and improving processes of curriculum development

Master of Education in Educational Theory and Practice

The Master of Science in Educational Theory and Practice offers educators an opportunity to improve their general understanding of curriculum theory and current practices. This program also assists candidates who wish to work toward National Board Certification. Within this master's degree, students focus on areas of learning that include:

  • Practices to enhance student achievement
  • Performance and field based learning activities integrating theory and practice
  • Enrichment of teaching knowledge and skills regarding instruction and curriculum
  • And preparation for the National Board Certification process
Master of Education in Special Education - Instructional Specialist 4-12
The purpose of the M.S.E. degree in Special Education - Instructional Specialist 4-12 is to offer educators an advanced performance-based program of study based on the recommendations of professional organizations and accrediting associations such as the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and NCATE. Students completing this program gain expertise in teaching students exhibiting developmental, learning and behavioral disabilities, and in consulting with general education teachers who have students with disabilities in their classrooms.

Students in this program must have a written commitment from a practicing educator who will function as your mentor during the program. The written commitment must be in the form of a letter on school/district letterhead, signed by the mentor. Find out about mentor qualifications and responsibilities. Speak to a representative in order to learn more about mentor qualifications and responsibilities.
